Do you think using a face self-tanner will help with foundations matching my pale skin better?

I ordered Fake Bake from amazon and I'm so excited to try it! I'm blonde haired, greyed eyed, very pale and have a neutral ivory skin tone, So I'm wondering, do you think using some tanner will help with every single foundation being too dark or too pink or too yellow for me? I'm really hoping it helps and I can try more high-end foundations like Nars and Smashbox, because right now all I can use is Lancome and even that is a bit dark.
