Are there any books or sources that cover the themes of David Blight's book "Race and Reunion"?

By this I mean the theme of reconciling Northern and Southern whites at the expense of African American issues, rights, and reconciliation. And, as a branching point, I would consider the shift in public memory concerning the Civil War and Reconstruction from during these events to the turn of the 19th Century.
