*SPOILERS* Can somebody explain the movie "her" to me?

So what I understood is, Theodore buys a program, falls in love with it, program gets too smart for him and leaves, then Theodore gets on the roof to kill himself. Is this true? Where did Samantha go? Please explain as much as possible, thanks! :D
