Can anyone answer my credit card question?

I need to give my credit card information to my dentist over the phone. He closes too early for me to give it to him in person, and I don't want to have to take off early from work. Is it safe to give the info. over my cell phone? Or is it safer to use my corded office phone? What is the risk of hacking?
