Can power steering return hose cause the check engine light to come on?

I have a 2004 Corolla that apparently needs a power steering return hose replacement according to the Toyota dealer. The check engine light came on a about a week ago, turned off for a day and then came back up again and has been on ever since. I was wondering if power steering return hose problems could cause the check engine light to come in.
