Question #14668112

Do you think I am financially stable enough for a dog?

I'm a college student at the University of MN-Twin Cities. I have a part-time job in addition to school, and per month, generally make about $1000. Now here's my breakdown: $1000 -$325(Rent) (My parents and I split the rent 50/50) -------- $675 -$100(Gas) -------- $575 -$150(Food) -------- $425 -$100(miscellaneous) -------- $325. Now, I am aware that there is always the scare of medical emergencies happening with animals, and I do have a separate savings account with over 3K in it, to be used only in emergent situations. (Not to mention, I always have my parents in WI if I ever need help from them). What do you think? I wasn't thinking a big dog or anything, just a nice dog to hang out with and love. Maybe like a dachshund? Thanks. The reason I am thinking about this so carefully, is because I am a huge animal-lover, and would never want to bring a dog into my house, if I feel like I would not be able to give it the proper care and nurture any animal deserves.
