Psychologists, or psychology students...what's going on with this couple? Any thoughts welcome?

A guy and girl date for a few weeks, but there's a lot of misunderstanding as he uses messages even though she'd prefer phone calls. She's shy..wants to go slow and he gets frustrated as he feels he can't 'reach' her..feels she's emotionally distant and ends it (by message) without discussing it with her! She's upset, kind of insults his impatience (due to anger) but still wants to see him. He says 'not a good idea..your comments are nasty. gimme time to think about it' They end up not contacting each other. She sends a 'Hi' a week later but no reply from him. It's already doomed?
