Knocking someone out/stunning them?

I'm a young writer and at one point there's an action type scene where the main character is about to be kidnapped from her apartment but to prevent this from happening she throws something at his head that ends up hurting him and distracting him but not knocking him out. At first I thought of a blender but I feel like that would knock someone out if it was thrown into their head. Any suggestions? (Normal household items)
