Why does denim keep you warm?

I'm doing a project in school about fabric insulation. I have to write a hypotheses on what fabric out of the three I've chosen to saying why I think that fabric would be the most effective in a cold climate. I've done the prac and haven't finished the hypotheses. I want to put in why denim keeps you warm. Does anyone know WHY denim keeps you warm in cold weather?
