What's the average length of a chapter?

I've read a lot of conflicting information. I average between 1500-2000 words per chapter. A few are as short as 600 words. I've post that say you should write whatever is necessary, but then these same post say I should write around 3,000-5,000 words. I feel I really stretch the material when I do. I blog my chapters as I write them. When I wrote a chapter at 4,000 words, only a few read it. Is 1,500 - 2,000 words really too short for a fiction novel?
