How often should I use a salicylic acid face wash for my acne?

Someone told me not to use it everyday, since it may cause even more clogged pores. How often should I use it? I wash my face 2 times a day with it. In exchange for that cleanser, should I use a gentle cleanser? I don't know which brands are good but someone told me the cleanser "purity" is good with cleansing. Please recommend me some gentle cleansers as well!
