Question #15268277

Why did Hitler shoot his governor?

Around early 1944 when the sitaution for Germany was pretty bad. Hitler held a meeting with his gauleiters.. During the meeting gauleiter Schmidt suggested that Hitler could step down temporarily as a way of easing Russia/Britain/America towards a ceasefire, and then afterwards would come back to power. Hitler, annoyed, asked if any other gauileter agreed with Herr Schmidt's idea. When no one raised their hand in support, he escorted Schmidt to the next room, closed the door and shot him with his pistol. Hitler returned to the room and continued with his meeting.
