What kind of hair cut /style should I have?

My hair doesn't get long, it gets tall. I had hoped that if I hrew it out, it would eventually fall. It wasn't, and I need a shorter haircut. My hair is long, but it doesn't look that way because it kid of curls up together. It's kind of dry as well. I don't want a buzz cut, and I usually get scissor cut to like an inch or two on top with a 3 I think on the sides, but I want something new and different. As you can see, lots of volume, but I have kind of given up on any kind of styling because after my hair dries it poofs up and does what I wants regardless of anything I do. So what style should I get?
