Question #15468126

How can anyone expect to get to heaven on account of their own good works when none of us have done what is right?

Anyone who thinks they can get to heaven by "being good" ignores the fact that in the end of the day, none of us fail to meet even our own standards. We decry greed and then spend lavishly on ourselves. We loathe dishonesty but then lies come out of our lips faster than a gazelle being hunted by a lion. This is because every human being is born a child of wrath, and none of us are righteous, as seen in Ephesians 2 & Romans 3. The good news is that even though the wages of sin are death, there is a way out. John 3:16 says that whoever believes in Jesus will have eternal life; but be warned, if you do not, the fate of John 3:18 awaits, which is eternal condemnation.
