Resizing a 59Fifty?

Hi all, Got a bit of a problem on my hands. I found a sweet Yankees 59Fifty (the old 4th of July hat from 2008) on eBay, and I want to buy it. There's just one problem...it's a bit big. My head size is 7 1/4, and this hat would have to be 7 5/8, so it's too large. Is there any way I can shrink this to fit my head? I know the tricks of soaking it in water and such, but are they that effective? My plan was to buy a foam strip to put on the inside of the hat, but if there are better options, I'd love to hear them. Let me know. Cheers
