Would Installing a Game Onto my Xbox Hard Drive Allow Me to Play It Scratched?

I have a game tht is scratched, badly. Would buying a used game in perfect condition, installing it onto my hard drive, and playing the scratched game help? What about if i try this with a chipped game instead of a scratched game. Thanks, All Answers Are Appreciated!
