Question #2349994

How to copy system and data from old os x lion laptop to new os x mountain lion laptop?

I have just taken delivery of a new MacBook Air to replace my aging MacBook Pro. My problem is that the Pro is on OSX Lion and the Air is on OSX Mountain Lion. So can I use Time Machine to restore, or direct connection to the old laptop. I don't want to use superduper as that will downgrade the Air to Lion and I don't want to pay to upgrade my old Pro to OSX Mountain Lion. I can copy all the data over easily enough, but I have applications like aperture and Office installed, which I'd rather not re-install if possible. Can you help, any Ideas? Thanks.
