Strings lights to border my ceiling?

I have a cathedral ceiling and I'd like to not only border where the walls end and the cathedral begins (horizontal), the height of the cathedral (diagonal), and the center beam (horizontal) with string lights. Can anyone think of any creative suggestions for hiding the cords and extension cords required to do this? Is there another decorative accent I could use in addition to the lights? Suggestions are highly appreciated. Thanks.
