How to upgrade GPU from intel hd?

I just purchased a dell Inspiron 660 and it came with the intel hd graphics, and I was wondering how to go about upgrading the GPU. I talked to dell and they said the GeForce gt440 was compatible with my computer, but do I need to remove anything before installing it? Or do I just put it into the port and connect the monitor to it?
