Fedex delivering at Postal service?

I ordered something, and it should be delivered tomorrow, but it happened to come early. I tracked it, and it said that its at the post office and to wait 1-2 days to deliver. I want it now if its in my area, not wait until tomorrow, why'd they even do this?
