I want to have purple bangs. Should I buy hair extensions or just dye my hair?

I'm getting my hair cut in a scene style and since my favorite color is purple I really want to have purple bangs. But I can't decide between hair extensions and dying my hair. The nice thing about hair extensions is that I can take them out if i need to or want to but I'm worried that they'll be too noticeable or not flow right with my hair. But on the other hand dying will look good but would involve bleaching my hair, then dying it purple (which i would have to keep doing really often cause my hair grows fast) and I don't know if I want to deal with all that and the fact that it'll take a long time to grow out when I get sick of it. Please help!
