can you develop that initial spark of interest for the same person twice?

when two people meet, there is sometimes that initial spark of interest. but when one person doesn't make the move the interest is lost. is it possible for that spark to reoccur for the same two people? i have liked the same person twice but i'm not sure if this is the same thing because i already knew the person.
