Webcam help! It's running slow..?

I just brought a new hp laptop it's the top of the range I've had it for 4 days now, but a couple of days ago my friend and I were playing with the webcams features such as adding borders and funny faces sort of thing. We did not change any settings. It was the second time I went on webcam. It's called Cyberlink Youcam. Now every time I run it it runs really slow. As in I would move to the left and then a couple of seconds later it would follow. The first few times it ran really great now it doesn't run smoothly at all. I'm still getting used to my laptop and it's brand new so there shouldn't be any problems.. If anyone has the answer please let me know! I'd love to start recording gaming videos for youtube and skyping with my friends but the webcam is so bad not even my friends can stand it, so please help!!
