Tips for a new hostess!?

I start my first job ever next Monday. Well, training starts. I'm hostessing at a restaurant in my town. I'm kind of nervous because they use that OpenTable restaurant to seat and take reservations and stuff & I don't know how to use it. Also, I'm worried about having to rotate servers and all that stuff. Can anyone tell me the basics of hostessing? Also, the manager told me that they require you to wear black shoes. I have a pair of black Toms. Since she didn't specify that they had to be gymshoes or anything, do you think Toms would be okay? Or do you they it wouldn't be okay to be showing part of your foot?
