HAIR EMERENCY? Sorry for my greediness!!?

Ok so my hair is extremely thick and it gets in the way when I go to my sports, and I was thinking of getting layers. I may sound really greedy because I want thinner hair but that's the truth. I want to be able to just throw my hair up in ONE ponytail and not two. Plzz helppp
