I'm 16 and my dad won't let me wear makeup?

He won't let me wear makeup, won't let me color my hair...pretty much won't let me feel pretty and express myself. I asked his girlfriend "why doesn't he want me to feel pretty" and she yelled at me, saying that my dad did a lot for me (yes, I KNOW this). My question is...why aren't I free to express myself? And what could I do to convince him to allow this? (WITHOUT his girlfriend putting her two cents in)
