Can I marinate fish with fruit syrup (canned)?

I have some canned tangerines and some mahi mahi and I was wondering if you can marinade with the syrup from canned fruits? I love the taste of tangerine and was hoping a 30 minute marinade might help add some sweetness and tangerine flavor, or if it would just make it gross.
