Does he like me or should i give up?

there's this guy and I really like him but I dont know if he likes me back. When we message sometimes he will call me boo. When I'm around him he dont talk to me much but he will smile. I'm tired of always being the one to chase the guy and wanna know if I should keep trying or just give up? Any advice?
