Why would he ask me this again?

Alright so there's this guy I like, we don't really talk we just say hi to each other and blah blah. But anyway I saw him yesterday at church he was with his friend. I go up to him and say hi. He says hi then he gives me a hug. Then he says, "What time did you get here? I didn't see you walk in?" I tell him I don't know and we just stand there staring at each other until his friend comes up to him. He asked me this question before and I told him the same thing. But like why would he want to know??? Did he want to start a conversation with me or something??? Idk.
