Sallie Mae Won't Defer Private Student Loans for Peace Corps?

I will be leaving for the Peace Corps next week and called Sallie Mae about having my loans deferred until after service and they told me that my loan cannot be deferred for the Peace Corps. Is there anything I can do?!
