Why is she interested in talking to me about this girl?

I am friends with this particular girl and have been for awhile. Anyway I mentioned to her the other day asking about if she texted friends back. And I gave her my reason for asking(it was actually a two sided answer), but the answer I gave was about how random a couple girls are with texting me. Anyway most of yesterday and some of today me and her have been talking about one of the girl's. Not in a full detail type context though. The only thing that hasn't come up is her asking me if I like this girl or not which I do. Is this something girls are interested in talking about with guy friends? Cuz for some reason she seems to like talking about it.
