my iphone needed a software update so i tried to update it through itunes now my software is messed up?

iTunes wont recognize my iphone 4s so I tried my friends computer and I tried restoring it, it was almost done and then it said error so now its black and when I try to turn it on it says connect to iTunes but it doesn't work in itunes.. what do I do?
