Issue with Clarion DXZ576USB head unit?

I've got the manual and checked it a few times and don't see the answer to my issue in there, it's honestly like my problem is not recognized as a problem. My head unit keeps coming up with an error 2 in usb mode. I had my usb stick 6 years and thought this maybe the issue. I bought a new usb stick and I still get the error sporadically. If I un plug the usb, then take off the face plate sometimes the error goes away. Other times it does not go away and the error remains until I have turned the car completely off then started it again. Any suggestions?
