My teacher told me to add him on Facebook?

Well, I'm most likely going to be leaving this year (I'm 16) and I asked all my teachers to sign in my book...when I asked one of my teachers (he is 38), he told me to add him on Facebook, but only when I know for definite if I'm going or not, is it weird that he asked me this?
