Are women treated equal to men?

I actually think we are treated equal nowadays, but my friend disagrees. I think women are judged more heavily on their looks than men, but other than that we seem to have the same rights, options, opportunities etc. What do you think? Are women still not treated or seen as equal to men in 2013?
