Question #7650258

Should this child be baptised catholic?

i have a child due to be born very soon, my partner is wanting to have him baptized, i dont, neither of us are religious and we wont be bringing him up in a religious way, my partner thinks that he will have more doors opened and feel more involved at school and in the community because of this. I personally do not agree i think that it is a stupid decision, we wont be using any catholic methods in the upbringing of this child and i dont see having him baptized will have any signifigance to his life as not being baptised would. my partner is catholic (not religious) and i have never been baptised nor am i religious either. do both parents need to consent to this? what would be the best thing to do for the child? please help!
