Question #7699957

can tomatoe seeds grow the next year?

When I was cleaning up my garden last year, there were some tomatoes that I just through into my garden before I tilled everything under. This year there seemed to be tomato plants growing sporadically. Is it possible that those are the tomatoes from the fall and their seeds survived the winter? Ive snipped a couple and they smell like tomato plants and look like them too. I live in north western ohio, so could there be a weed that is part of the tomato family and smells and looks like them? Im baffled at this. Your help would be greatly appreciated:) Thank you so much in advance.
