Growing out half shaved hair?

Hi, so I am posting this for my friend. She shaved part of her hair of, and now theres about an inch of hair hair grown in. She wants a pixie cut, But do you think a pixie thats a quarter inch in the back half an inch in the sides and three quarters on top is too short?
