Would this be a good shark fishing reel?

The Penn General Purpose Level Wind Reel holds 350 yards of 30 lb. mono. I'm going to the Outer Banks, NC this summer, specifically Corolla in late July. Is 30lb test enough for a shark? Should I use a heavy braid for backing? Any good, cheap, high capacity reels that you guys like?
