My reverse car lights dont work?

well one went out about a few months from owning the vehicle then i just didnt think much and drove with only one for about a year now they both are off i changed them both with brand new ones took about 10 minutes bht NOTHING thwy dont come on. could this be a wiring problem? possibly wrong lamps purchased? help me please
