I have a question about my hip piercing?

So I got my hip pierced on June 14 2013 and I have been doing what the guy who did it told me to do which he said to get warm salt water and let it run down the piercing for a whole month. Now he also said not go swimming for at least 4-6 weeks and I haven't. Now I'm not really sure when it happens (or when it stared) if its from waking up or from getting out of the shower but I get this thing around the bar and it looks like a clear booger. So my question is is it a sign of an infection? I used a Q-Tip to take that stuff off and I smelled it but it doesn't smell like anything?
