Why is the IPhone 5 so rubbish and why does it only have mono video recording?

I'm considering of changing service fro T-Mobile to Verizon and the only phone that I've liked so far has been the IPhone because it has a lot to offer but I've looke at other options like the Samsung Galaxy S III which is very bulky and even more rubbiish than the IPhone. I dont like the IPhone's body because it is so easy to scratch and it feels quite a bit fragile to be honest. I also had looked at getting the Sony Xperia ION, which I think is better than the Iphone
