iTunes 10 not going to current song?

I recently upgraded my iTunes to 10 and now when ever I add a song to the the player it won't go straight to the new song. In the past when I open an MP3 file it would go directly to the song that was being added as it played but now it won't so I have to use command L or scroll through to get to the song so I can organize it within my playlists. Is there a way to fix this? It's getting a bit annoying.
