1st time Free Dive: advice?

I am very interested in getting into free diving and spear fishing. I understand free divers need a float to tow for safety, place to store fish, etc... What kind of set up do you run? Are you, your spear or your spear gun attached to the float? How do you store fish? What kind of spear gun to you use. Knife? Wetsuit? Goggles? Snorkel? Fins? Anything helps!
