If I redeem a Mac app card on my iPhone will I be able to use it still on my Mac in the Mac App Store?

I recently bought a Mac and I'm still waiting for it to arrive but the iTunes card that they sent with it has already arrived and it says Mac apps on the back and I'm just wondering if I redeem it on my phone will The funds also show up on the Mac App Store when I get it or do I have to wait to redeem it on my Mac.
